The United States Postal Service’s “Battlefields of the American Revolution” press sheet without die cuts, released April 16, 2025, garnered significant attention, apparently selling out on its first day of issue.

USPS spokesman Jim McKean confirmed to Linn’s Stamp News that the item is off sale but declined to say when it specifically sold out.

In recent years USPS has also declined to provide production or sales figures for press sheets.

This commemorative issue features 15 forever stamps that honor five pivotal battles of the American Revolution: Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, Trenton, Saratoga, and Yorktown. Each battle is represented by a combination of a contemporary photograph and a watercolor illustration by artist Greg Harlin, designed under the art direction of Derry Noyes. The stamps are arranged in five rows of three, with each row dedicated to one battle, pairing a photograph of a historic site with a corresponding illustration.

The press sheet without die cuts, priced at $43.80, consists of four uncut panes of 15 stamps each, totaling 60 stamps. Unlike standard sheets, these lack the die cuts that separate individual stamps.

The immediate sellout of this press sheet underscores its popularity among philatelists and history enthusiasts. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, such commemorative issues resonate deeply, offering both aesthetic appeal and historical significance.

It is also likely that the smaller size, only four panes, and 15 different stamps to a pane, contributed to collectors and dealers purchasing more sheets than usual. Large se-tenant panes in a no die cut format have proven popular before and some have also had quick sellouts.

For those who missed the initial release, the USPS also offers other related products, including the standard pane of 15 stamps, first-day covers, and a press sheet with die cuts. These items remain available through the USPS Postal Store.
